Yuko Anti-Frizz Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Before I begin, it's really important to know that I was recently diagnosed with a form of eczema all over my scalp, lips and now my face. It's been difficult and I'm trying hard to learn about it and deal with it. I'll blog about it soon! Anyway, my doctor and dermatologist have given me a special shampoo to use but its not nice and smells weird. I still like to use 'normal' ones, so they said I wasn't too restricted as to my choice of shampoo and conditioner. However my mum and I both agreed that nothing with lots of nasty ingredients is going to help.

I haven't been willing to try many products but when I was contacted and asked if I would like to try Yuko* I was really intrigued (especially as there are little reviews out there!). From the bottom picture, you can see that the products have no sulphate, parabens, sodium chloride, petrochemicals or preservatives.

YUKO is a Japanese hair straightening brand founded in 1996 by salon owner and stylist Yuko Yamashita. Alongside their permanent salon hair straightening in over 70,000 salons worldwide, YUKO also has a homecare range consisting of sets of products targeting: Frizz, Colour, Dry/Damaged Hair and Dry/Chemically treated hair.

I've been trying the anti-frizz range which is perfect for someone with naturally curly hair like me. I've only used the products four times and am really impressed. The first thing to note is the smell, its absolutely amazing. You can definitely pick up the apple or 'apple amino acids' in the shampoo, which is wonderful and almost reminds me of a Herbal Essences shampoo I tried years ago. The conditioner is just as lovely, containing beeswax and meadowfoam.

Since using the products, I've realised a little goes a long way, which is great because you get a longer lasting product. However, the only problem is, a lot comes out at once! I really love the sleek packaging but thats the only downfall. I just have to be careful not to squeeze too much out and waste it.

The products didn't leave my hair feeling greasy or heavy and I'm super happy with the results. My only concern is the price. If you are prepared to pay for high-end hair care then I would definitely recommend the line and will be buying more when I'm low! There's also a leave-in conditioner and serum, I'll definitely have to try these soon.

You can purchase Yuko here.

  1. I used to have the same as you all over my scalp I had it for about 2 years it think then it disappeared, I do now get it when am really stressed. The product I used was from the doctors and it smelt like tar , it was pretty horrid smelling but it worked, nightmare to get the smell out your hair though. I hope you find something that works cause I hated it when i had it.

    Great post by the way.
