GHD Limited Edition Ruby Metallic Straighteners

It's no lie that I absolutely love my GHD's. I got a black pair as a Christmas present years and years ago as my naturally curly hair was driving me crazy. I wanted a really good pair of straighteners and to this day, they are still going strong! I've even learnt to create some gorgeous styles with them. If you missed it, check out my post and video on creating celeb curls here

I was recently contacted and kindly sent the Limited Edition Ruby Metallic Straighteners from GHD to review for you and WOW, I am impressed. As I've had mine for so long, I wasn't sure how different the newer ones would be, but turns out GHD have kept up their standards and didn't fail to impress me.

What's so good about them?
  • They have an 'advanced ceramic heat technology' for smoother and shiner results. This definitely lives up to its claim and left my hair feeling wonderful.
  • The smooth black plates have a hint of sparkle and are designed for snag-free styling, yipee! The contoured plates make it easier for curls and waves too, as demonstrated in my last post
  • The cord at the end swivels, allowing freedom during styling, something I found really handy. It's also really long which is a huge bonus.
  • They're really lightweight, I curled my whole head without having an achy wrist!
  • They heat up within 15-20 seconds, great for someone like me usually in a rush in the morning! I found I could straighten my whole head within 15 mins when it usually takes me 20-25.
  • GHD's have an 'automatic sleep mode' which is amazing if you accidentally forget to turn them off.
  • The colour! Aren't they pretty? They also come in Gold and Silver but I personally love the 'ruby red', would make a wonderful Valentines or Birthday present.
  • They also come with a heat-resistant quilted storage case with is so cleverly made. It has a center divider which makes packing them away really easy (especially with the wire and plug) and whilst in use, the bag acts as a heat mat!
  • They come with a two year manufacturer's guarantee so even if they do brake (which I highly doubt they will), you know you're covered.
Any downfalls?

  • My original GHD's feel a bit thicker, so whilst using these ones, I found myself clamping quite hard unnecessarily on them. This is probably just me but I think I like using thicker plates to tame my thick hair.
  • They are a little pricey but that's only because they are a limited edition pair. I'm not sure if there are some deals around but in all fairness, GHD's are an investment and last an extremely long time.

Final thoughts?

There's not much more I can say other than they're absolutely great. They tick every box for what you would want/need with a pair of straighteners. I would recommend them to anyone, even if you have straight, thin or really short hair.

What do you think? Do you own GHD's?

How To Create Celeb Curls Using GHD's!

I was recently contacted and challenged to create a celebrity inspired hair look using a pair of GHD's. I've loved the brand for a very long time so thought I would give it a go. I sat and went through loads of celebrity hairstyles on the GHD website for inspiration. I've been asked several times on my channel how I create curls and its really simple. I hope you like my step by step, let me know if you give it a go! I've got a full review of the straighteners coming up soon.

Drumstick, Double Lollies & Refeshers Squashies* from 45p for 45g packet

A few months ago, my mum came home with a bag of drumstick 'Squashies' and offered me one which I turned down. I don't really like anything too fizzy, chewy or sour and I just presumed they would be all three. Whilst food shopping with her about a week later, she bought more in ASDA and told me I had to try them. I knew ASDA sold a few unusual brands, so I thought I would give them a go and absolutely loved them!

From the reaction on my instagram when I first got them before Christmas, obviously I'm not the only one! So when I was contacted and asked if I would like to try the Refreshers and Double Lollies too, I jumped with glee and said yes please!

After trying all three (theres also Love Hearts in the range too), I can still say that Drumsticks are my absolute favourite, followed closely by Double Lollies. The Refreshers have lemon and strawberry flavours, but I didn't really like the 'original' lemon. Drumsticks tastes of raspberry and vanilla, and the Lollies have a slight coating, tasting a bit more fruity.

The nicest thing about  Squashies is how they've brought back retro sweets from our childhoods and created something for everyone. My whole family love them; I even threw a bag in with my mums xmas pressies! We took them skiing too as they're great to suck on but not too chewy either.  If you have children, they contain no artificial colouring, so perfect for journeys, films and get togethers!

In answer to lots of your questions, you can buy them from Asda, Sainsbury's and Co-op.  I must admit, they are quite hard to come by but I always find mine on offer, 2 for £3 in ASDA.

What do you think? Will you be trying these and re-living memories?

Yuko Anti-Frizz Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Before I begin, it's really important to know that I was recently diagnosed with a form of eczema all over my scalp, lips and now my face. It's been difficult and I'm trying hard to learn about it and deal with it. I'll blog about it soon! Anyway, my doctor and dermatologist have given me a special shampoo to use but its not nice and smells weird. I still like to use 'normal' ones, so they said I wasn't too restricted as to my choice of shampoo and conditioner. However my mum and I both agreed that nothing with lots of nasty ingredients is going to help.

I haven't been willing to try many products but when I was contacted and asked if I would like to try Yuko* I was really intrigued (especially as there are little reviews out there!). From the bottom picture, you can see that the products have no sulphate, parabens, sodium chloride, petrochemicals or preservatives.

YUKO is a Japanese hair straightening brand founded in 1996 by salon owner and stylist Yuko Yamashita. Alongside their permanent salon hair straightening in over 70,000 salons worldwide, YUKO also has a homecare range consisting of sets of products targeting: Frizz, Colour, Dry/Damaged Hair and Dry/Chemically treated hair.

I've been trying the anti-frizz range which is perfect for someone with naturally curly hair like me. I've only used the products four times and am really impressed. The first thing to note is the smell, its absolutely amazing. You can definitely pick up the apple or 'apple amino acids' in the shampoo, which is wonderful and almost reminds me of a Herbal Essences shampoo I tried years ago. The conditioner is just as lovely, containing beeswax and meadowfoam.

Since using the products, I've realised a little goes a long way, which is great because you get a longer lasting product. However, the only problem is, a lot comes out at once! I really love the sleek packaging but thats the only downfall. I just have to be careful not to squeeze too much out and waste it.

The products didn't leave my hair feeling greasy or heavy and I'm super happy with the results. My only concern is the price. If you are prepared to pay for high-end hair care then I would definitely recommend the line and will be buying more when I'm low! There's also a leave-in conditioner and serum, I'll definitely have to try these soon.

You can purchase Yuko here.

New Ralph Lauren Jumper!

Ralph Lauren Cable Knit Jumper - £39.99

On Tuesday, I drove down to Portsmouth (well over an hour away) because I had to take a 'Driver's Awareness Course' as I was caught speeding 36 in a 30 when I thought it was 40, definitely pissed me off! Anyway, theres a really lovely area called Gunwharf Quays which has outlook shops like Jack Wills, The Body Shop and of course Ralph Lauren! Basically everything is discounted and even more when its SALE period!

I have always really been into brands and like to dress smartish sometimes, especially as I can wear what I like to work. Ralph Lauren is classic brand and I absolutely love their shirts and jeans. Whilst in the store, I spotted loads of these classic cable knit jumpers in different colours reduced. Originally RRP £100, outlook store £64.99 and sale price, £39.99, YES! I love jumpers as they hide my tum and keep me warm. I went for this creamy colour as it looks lovely with my Zara jeans and UGGs.

What do you think? Shall I feature it in an OOTD?

Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash Pink Shrimp Review

I've had a Tangle Teezer for years now and my current one was looking a little sorry for itself. The bristles were wearing away (as I used it so much!) but mainly it was living in my shower and I wasn't sure if that was okay. I took a trip to Boots to get another, when I spotted the newest design 'Aqua Splash'. I instantly fell in love and had to try it.

Aqua Splash is the latest innovation from Tangle Teezer, and the first upright, non-slip, water-loving detangling hairbrush. The hollow design makes for easy, lightweight handling, and the rounded edges allows for smooth, free-flowing detangling.

Basically, this brush is amazing. I love the size, its bigger than the original and easier to use. Its absolutely perfect for conditioning or applying hair treatments as its suitable to use in water and glids through hair without tugging or hurting.  It distributes any product really easily and the hallow design means water can flow through when using it too!

Tangle Teezers are pricey, but so worth it. For someone like me who has tangled, frizzy, notty hair, I am so grateful for products like this.

Definitely a favourite this month plus, they sell all sorts of fun colours!

What do you think? Do you own a Tangle Teezer?

Winter Walk Outfit

Top - Forever 21
Trousers - Primark
Jacket - Zara
Bag - Primark
Boots - New Look

I recently asked what kind of things you all wanted to see more of from me, and one of the most requested ones was fashion, outfits and 'lookbooks'. It has taken me several years to find clothes that suit me and I felt awkward filming a fashion video, so it might take me time to get there! However, I picked up these red trousers with gold contrast zips in Primark at the weekend for only £7 and absolutely love them. I paired with a brown jacket, boots, bag and striped top, one of my favourite colours during winter. I love accessorising with scarves too, this one was a christmas gift from Miss Selfridge and goes with so many outfits. The skull and butterfly detailing is just so pretty! Finally, I can't believe my bag was only £12, its perfect! You can see what other things I bought in my recent haul here.

January Haul

Oops, did a bit of shopping again! Primark wasn't as good as I thought it might be but I did find the '£12 bag' which I absolutely love! Found some essentials like a shirt and jeans in Zara and picked up a Kelly Brook black bra and the top I blogged about in my wishlist the other day from New Look! Let me know what you think, I'm going to try and be good for the rest of the month now.

Cosmopolitan Beauty Magazine!

Whilst mooching in WHSmith the other day, I spotted this new magazine that Cosmo have released called 'Beauty'. Its £5.99 (at first, I thought a little pricey), but definitely worth the money and something I will be keeping by my bedside table for tips and tricks! I thought you might like to know about it.

The editor Louise writes "If you want to know what the most amazing bargain beauty buys are, the best creams for glowy skin, concealers that don't cake, miracle cures for hangover skin, cellulite busters, or how to get long hair faster - to name a handful - we've tried and tested gazillions of products to make your lives just that little bit easier."

I'm so impressed with the quality of the photography, the style of writing and general feel to the magazine. Its almost between a magazine and a book, although I really wish it was in a hardback book but appreciate this could double the price.

I'm really enjoying the section '82 Brilliant Beauty Buys You'll Adore', its given me so much inspiration for new things to buy! I noticed there aren't many adverts either, its literally packed with over 150 pages of beauty.

What do you think? Will you be buying this?

Wednesday Wishlist #7

4.Topshop Bow Purse
5. Tangle Teezer

Since Christmas, I've not really 'wished' for much. I've avoided the Sales (so far) at all costs because I'm saving for a new car. I keep adding things to baskets online and quickly closing the tab, its too dangerous! But I have spotted a few things recently that I have my eye one, especially as I turn 19 in March too.
I wear a lot of silver jewellery so I absolutely love this Michael Kors watch to complete the whole 'look', its so pretty!
I need more tops for going out, New Look have a great selection for their new Spring stock!

Since New Years, I've really been into Eyelashes and spotted the Girls Aloud ones in Boots the other day. They have a 'limited edition' pair to celebrate 10 years of the band together. I love the style of them, might use my gift cards to get a pair.
I also have been lusting after a Ted Baker purse, but saw this one from Topshop and thought it looked pretty similar!
Finally, my Tangle Teezer is dying. The bristles are falling off so I think it needs replacing. I swear by the brush, its brilliant!

What are you lusting after recently?
