The Best Of Benidorm: Food & Restaurants | #VisitBenidorm, Spain

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Benidorm in Spain with icelolly.com and we had an absolute blast. If you missed my post covering all the activities we did, and discussing the alternative side to the popular Spanish destination, then be sure to catch up here!

In the meanwhile, we had such incredible food, I had to dedicate a whole blog post to share the best of the food and restaurants we tried and tested. This was organised for us by the Tourist Board themselves, so take mine and their word for it when I say you MUST add these place to your list if you're visiting Benidorm!

RESTAURANT LLUM DEL MAR

What a beautiful restaurant...look at that view! Located in 5* Villa Venecia Boutique Hotel, Llum De Mar was the first meal we had on our trip and was by far, my favourite. We had a menu made for us (presented on a scroll!) to try several dishes served on the menu, including Duck Ham Salad, Tenderloin Carpaccio with Parmesan, Wild Hake and Beef Cheek with Quinoa. For dessert, that pink plate of goodness was Strawberry compote, Yoghurt Ice Cream and Candy Floss! I'm drooling just thinking about it. If you're looking for fine dining, or a special meal on your holiday, then this is the place to visit.

RESTAURANT ULIA

After visiting Pointe Beach, we stopped for lunch at a place called Ulia. Serving quality seafood and fresh fish from the Bay, their cuisine is traditional Spanish from several generations. We had the most amazing croquettes and calamari, but it was the paella that really stood out for me. Washed down with a glass (or two) of Sangria, I'd love to come back one day. The big windows made the restaurant really light and airy, it was truly wonderful.

SON DE MAR

Located on the corner of the seafront near Old Town, we stopped at a place called Son De Mar for lunch one day after Jetskiing & Snorkelling. Similar to our first meal, we were presented with several dishes to try, some of which were a little too experimental for me however, the duck on sweet potato mash was heavenly. In true tradition, we washed down with jugs of Sangria, which we all agreed severed the best so far. Finally, we had the best dessert here too, white chocolate brownie. What I'd give to have that again!

LA TAPERÍA

This is where I truly fell in love with Tapas. Walking down Santo Domingo Street in Old Town, it offered so many different Tapas restaurants of all different kinds. With locals and tourists filling the streets, it felt so far from the 'strip' of Benidorm, and much more like I was in Spain. La Taperia is well known for it's extensive beer list, but we opted for Sangria as per! We were able to go up to a counter, see the food in front of us, and order which tapas we fancied. The beauty with tapas is a little goes a long way, so I had a mix of chicken, honey glazed aubergine and croquettes. We finished up with a sharing platter of desserts, one very happy girly.

SOLOTULA

Our final meal of the trip was at Solotula, a real hidden gem amongst the centre of town. I cannot explain to you how incredible this avocado starter was; cold ravioli shrimp inside the avocado with mango and apple. Seriously a must try! In try Spanish style, the dishes are served on sharing platters, and although they're quite an adventurous takes on classic dishes, they're certainly worth experimenting. The fairy lights made a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were really friendly too.

ROOFTOP COCKTAILS

Last but not last, we ended our final evening having cocktails on the rooftop bar of Hotel Madeira Centro. With a glass elevator taking you to the 20th floor, I felt so far from Benidorm when I saw the view from the top. Soaking in the panoramic views whilst washing down a Piña Colada? Perfect end to a perfect trip!

I really hope this goes some way in helping plan your meals if you're visiting Benidorm. We really were spoilt for choice, and I can't thank Visit Benidorm & icelolly enough for giving us such a fantastic experience! If you haven't already, check out my full review of our trip here!
