Trying Google Glass!

On Wednesday 12th September, I was kindly invited to an event at ASOS HQ. Whilst there, I was also lucky enough to try out the new 'Google Glass', a completely surreal and futuristic product.

I'm pretty sure my description will not do it justice however, it's essentially a pair of super high tech glasses. They're available in different shapes and sizes, frames and no frames, and are designed to fit in your lifestyle. There's a tiny camera on the front and a screen that is projected in front of you which you can adjust to your eye level.

You start by saying "okay glass" using the built in speaker, followed by the command you'd like. For example, you can say "Google" and then "What's the weather like in London tomorrow?", to which the female voice told me "21 degrees and partly cloudy", whilst also displaying the results on the 'screen' in front of my eyes. Mind blown.

If you run, you can use GPS to track your location and if you get lost, you can turn on navigation overlay for further instructions with turn-by-turn directions. You can send texts hands free and see your friends responses right in front of your eyes. You can also take photos, record videos, translate words, set reminders, get travel alerts and tons more.

If you've got a spare £1,000 then it's a very cool gadget. Sadly I don't, and I highly doubt I'd use it that much, but I'm still very impressed. The glasses are really lightweight and comfortable to wear too! I also filmed my first impressions over on my YouTube in a vlog from the evening which you can go and watch here - Coke Life, Google Glass & ASOS HQ #BeautyChat.

What do you think? Have you heard/seen Google Glass before?

Ps. This post has not been sponsored, I just thought it was too AWESOME not to share! Pps. Photo credit to the beautiful Emma from Bloomzy, thank you!

  1. Tis all a bit too hi tech .... they're a bit like the kinda thing you saw in 80s movies as "the future". I'm not sure what I think of them, I'm not really sold on things you have to talk out loud to, me and Siri don't really get on and don't even get me started on the X Box voice recognition!

So cool you got to try some though :D
