Joma Jewellery

Hello, just a quick one! Last night, I got in the most amazing range from Joma Jewellery and thought you'd like to be the first to know. I'm so unbelievably happy, the jewellery is so pretty and they make the most perfect gifts. I'm all for affordable pieces on The Beauty Closet (my slogan is 'affordable jewellery & gifts you'll love!') and these are just that! With the carded bracelets from £9.99 - £10.99, they really are so easy to give as a gift! The Freya necklaces reminded me of Tiffany & Co with the chain looping through a hammered circle, so pretty I'm definitely getting keeping one myself. Finally, the stack rings are expandable, so will fit anyone and available in 5 different designs for only £7.99. Can't go wrong really :)

Wednesday Wishlist #6

This is pretty much what  my Christmas list is looking like right now. I realised I didn't actually want very much this year because as I work full time, I often just buy things myself! Rich is getting me a lovely filofax though which will be perfect for keeping my busy life organised. The Joules iPhone case literally looks like Jack Wills, I love it! Whilst browsing their shop the other day, I spotted their Gilet in the most gorgoeus pink. Definitely got my eye on it...I used a sample of Stay Don't Stray and love it so think I'll purchase that duty free at the airport. Oh and how cute is that accessorize purse?! Love!

diary of a workaholic

Every Sunday, I blog about what I've been up to and another week has whizzed by! Monday was surprisingly okay. I had 5 people with me at work as we're opening another new shop on Saturday and had to train new staff. This helped the day go sooo quickly, I was relieved. In the evening, Rich took me to see the new Twilight as I was desperate to go! Oh.my.god. It was AMAZING. Theres a huge twist in it which I won't reveal but the directors did an incredible job on making the last film super successful.

Tuesday and wednesday were crap. It rained all day and despite having 3 extra people in, the days went unbelievably slow. Rich suggested we went and matched Bournemouth play football on Tuesday, so I put my wellies on and went along. I actually really enjoyed it, despite thinking I wouldn't!
I went to Mcdonald's Drive Thur on Thursday to avoid cooking anything, haha.

Thursday was truly AWFUL. I worked so hard all day because the new shop needed more stock from my one. I was running around like a crazy girl that I forget to eat lunch. I ended up having to work late to drive the stock to the other shop whilst splitting my leggings and favourite boots! Thank god I had spare and my UGG's in the car. I was totally relieved to get to Rich's and find his mum had made us dinner.

Don't even get me started on Friday. I worked 16 hours straight which definitely wasn't planned! I started at about 9am, running errands like visiting the post office and collecting more stock to take with me. I opened at 10am and did a bit more training with the new staff, whilst splitting MORE stock and serving customers. At 5pm, the owner rung and was desperate for my help as the new shop was completely empty and definitely not ready for opening day tomorrow. I drove 40 minutes over there and we didn't end up finishing until 2am. My whole body was pretty much dead but it was all worth it because it looked amazing and well, the money is going to be nice.

Here's some sneaky pictures of the new childrens shop we opened...

Saturday I had my well deserved lie-in and shower but didn't feel like filming for YouTube, I had no motivation at all. I organised pieces for The Beauty Closet because I'm doing a Christmas Fair next Thursday. Then, Rich came over and we visited the new shop for opening day with my family. Had a full English breakfast for lunch before popping to the shops in the afternoon. I was so so tired but managed to find a pair of new ski salopettes, some new leggings to replace the ripped ones and jeans in H&M for only £9.99! This was such an achievment for me because jeans and I do NOT get along. Rich actually picked out what size he thought I might be, I tried them on and they fit like a glove. I would have paid £100 for them but £10 just made them even better. Night in with ice cream, xfactor and a cuddle.

Sunday was LAZZZYYY. I wrote blog posts, cleaned my room, organised more Beauty Closet stuff for this show I'm doing next week and then we drove to Rich's house. Literally stayed in bed most of the day. That's what Sunday's are for though, right?

NARS vs. ELF Blush/Bronzer Duo's

(Swatch) Left - NARS Right - ELF

During the summer, I purchased the NARS Laguna/Orgasm Blush & Bronzer Palette and have worn them both everyday since. However, I had such a problem with ordering directly from them so I wouldn't advise it! You can read about that here. Previously, I already owned and loved the ELF Studio Blush & Bronzer Compact which is available for only £3.75! But despite the price, how does it compare to the NARS Palette at £30...

Elf Compact
With something like this, you definitely get what you pay for. I used to think it was amazing, but in comparison to NARS, no way. The pigmentation, colour pay-off and overall finish of both products is shocking. The bronzer is a muddy colour which contains glitter and has to be applied with a light hand. It would probably suit someone with more of a darker skin tone than me. The blush isn't too bad, it has more of an orangey under-tone in comparison to Orgasm which I don't really like. Both products are chalky and don't last all day. However, the convenience of them being together in a compact means you can touch up during the day.

NARS Duo
Orgasm and Laguna both have a lot of a hype as it is, so I completely trusted I would like them before purchasing. Laguna compliments my skin tone much better than the Elf one, it has a faint shimmer which doesn't show once applied. My favourite thing about both products is the formulation. They're smooth and last all day. Orgasm is the most gorgeous blush too, it definitely suits my paler skin. I can't fault either product and can happily say they are worth the money. I don't see me repurchasing anything else anytime soon.

Overall
So the Elf compact isn't quite a dupe for the NARS Duo however, if you're just starting out with make up or looking for something simple, it isn't too bad, especially for the price. In the pan, they look similar but the blush is definitely more pink toned. Both are so easy for travelling in a compact with large mirrors, a feature I really appreciate. Depsite how much more expensive the NARS Duo is, I'm glad I invested because I feel much more confident wearing them.

What do you think? Do you own either one?

diary of a drunk girl

Well, it's been a rubbish week. So rubbish, I can't even be bothered to properly blog about it. I was poorly on Monday and really moody on Tuesday, so good start to the week. Then, I sold my first pair of children's shoes at work on Wednesday, which despite being an achievement, left me absolutely petrified whether they fit that child or not. Thursday and Friday was a blur of work dragging on and on.

I was on Radio 1 on Monday though, which was a pretty cool experience. I blogged about it last week here or you can listen on Radio 1 Newsbeat here! Friday couldn't have come at a better time and on Saturday, I took another cheeky trip up to Southampton to visit Megan in her Uni halls. We chilled all afternoon, stuffed ourselves with McDonalds and then went out at night.

After plenty of glasses of Malibu and Coke, its safe to say that today, I'm feeling it. It was absolutely hilarious, we partied in the kitchen and set up music and strobe lights! We managed to convince almost everyone in the halls to come out with us which for some reason, made me really excited I was jumping in my chair... The night continued with more drunkenness once we made it to a bar called 'Buddah Lounge', leaving at 2am. Once back at the halls, we watched the boys trash another guys bedroom, cooked pizza and I was so delusional, I told Megan I was playing Hay Day in my head...That is what my life has come to. (Ps. If you play, how cool is the new Christmas update?!)

Not only did I meet some lovely new friends this weekend, but I felt like I belonged and became a student for 24 hours, getting a real feel of university life. It's amazing how much has changed in the last few months, and being there showed me how different my life could have been. I'm definitely going to stay again (if that's okay Megan!) because we had an amazing weekend full of laughs, drama and memories.

Have a good week, I'm working late lots next week!

Liz Earle Skincare Starter Gift Set

My hot cloth cleanser was coming to end after a year of usage! I popped into John Lewis (I didn't even realise they sold Liz Earle) at the weekend and picked up this "Starter Skincare Gift" which contains 100ml Hot Cloth Cleanser, 30ml Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer and a Muslim Cloth for £17.50. Normally, the cleanser starter kit is £14.25 so this works out really good value for money as I get to trial the skin tonic too. There are a variety of sets available at the moment but I'm not a fan of the moisturiser so this was the most ideal for me. It would be a great gift for someone for Christmas!

New Ugg Boots!

UGG Australia Classic Tall Tan - £160

It was expensive for my bank account last week, first I bought an iPad Mini then these new babies! I've loved UGGs for years and really wanted a new pair for winter. I popped into this little boutique near where I work, to find they were having 20% off for 2 days only! I impulse bought them as I planned to buy them after Christmas anyway and I love them so much. They haven't left my feet in 4 days. Expensive yes, but so worth it.

diary of a shopaholic

Exciting start to the week, I had a guy from Radio 1 come down and record with me! I wrote a comment on their Facebook page when discussing the price of car insurance going up for women, not expecting anything from anyone. He contacted me and loved my story about funding the car myself, how important driving is and my journey from home to work. It was really exciting and obviously a great opportunity for me! This left me in a fabulous mood. Its being aired today at 12:45 and 5:45 if you wanted to listen or read the interview here!

It was quiet at work on Tuesday, but sales were good. I spent the afternoon completely tidying up, then popped to Tesco and picked up More Magazine because this week, I'm in it! Radio yesterday, magazine today ;) Got home and went straight out again with my family. We went up to my local ski centre to pick up my brothers new skis and had dinner there. I got home, climbed into bed and devoured Ben & Jerry's whilst catching up with Made In Chelsea.

Wednesday, Apple in Bournemouth called to tell me my iPad Mini was waiting for me! I'd been trying for days to get one but they were out of stock. Rich being the top boyfriend he is, went and picked it up for me. The day went so slow as I wanted to get home and play with it!

Thursday, stayed at Rich's house and we went out for Nandos, my treat! We bought sticky toffee pudding in Sainsbury's and watched The Inbetweeners Movie in bed. I replied to blog comments on my new iPad ;)

Friday, yay! I went and bought myself a pair of new UGG boots, oops! They had £40 off in a little boutique near work so I splurged as I wanted them forever. Post coming up next. They haven't left my feet since and despite being expensive, I love them so much.

Saturday I took a cheeky trip up the Southampton to visit my friend Megan. I accidentally went through a speed camera doing 40 in a 30, it was two lanes near the uni halls and I really thought it was a 50! The camera was forward facing and flashed once in my face but made me cry :( I really hope nothing comes through but I'll probably have points and a fine. Oh lovely. Despite that knock back, we had a great day and I bought a case for my iPad, the camera to card reader lightening thing for my iPad, more Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and a few Christmas cards etc.  Stayed in watching telly and realised I hit 800 followers on here! Thanks lovelies!

Sunday was rubbish because I had to go to work on my day off to do training for Children's shoes again. It went okay and I feel a bit more confident but I was so tired and it left me completely exhausted. Drove all the way over to Rich's to spend the evening with him. We cooked pizza and more sticky toffee pudding. I fell asleep about 9pm because I was sooo tired!

I don't have much planned for next week, I might go out at the weekend but its rainy and cold! Let me know if you still like these diary posts?! Brogan xx

iPad Mini: First Impressions

Apple iPad Mini, White 16g Wi-Fi, £269

It is no lie, I absolutely love my new iPad. I come from a family who is literally Apple obsessed. With 4 iPhones, 2 iMacs, 3 Macbooks, 3 iPads, Apple TV and 5 iPods in one house alone, its fair to say we've got enough. My mum has her own businesses and works in the AV industry, so can buy all these things trade price. However, I bought mine from Apple after being on the waiting list, it was really hard to get my hands on one for days!

Despite my family having two already, I've never really been interested in an iPad before. I always looked at the Kindle Fire and other tablets on the market which are just as good to be fair. The iPad was always a bit bulky and heavy for me. Over the past year, I've done lots of travelling on my own and carrying my laptop is just so inconvenient.  Therefore, when I heard about the release of the Mini, I desperately wanted it.

I justified that I'll be using it for plenty of things. Watching films, reading books,  blogging, editing pictures and videos, access to my website and running it easier, emails, apps for entertainment...the list is endless! The only thing that's annoying is connecting to a Wi-Fi connection, but you can use a 'Personal Hotspot' from your iPhone.

Do I think it's worth it? Yes, but it totally depends on what you'll be using it for. Personally, it makes travelling more convenient. Especially as I switch between staying at home and my boyfriends house during the week too. The size is perfect for me, fits in one hand! You can see in the picture above that it's a lot thinner than the normal iPad, especially around the thickness of the screen. You could say its just a "big iPhone" but its more than that to me. It's fit in my handbag and is the middle ground between my phone and macbook. I'm so glad I got it, I'm going skiing over Christmas and it means I'll be fully entertained, can edit videos with the iMovie app and Skype Rich on Christmas Day. Without carrying my latop!

What do you think?

diary of a busy girl

So it's the end of the week and I feel ready to write another personal, update kinda post again.

Last week, I had a weird lump on my head which the nurse diagnosed as an 'infected bite'. I was put on antibiotics and finished them last week, so why was my head still itching weirdly? By the time I got in my car at 5 o'clock on Monday, I actually started crying with the thought I had nits or something. I was meant to be going straight to Rich's house but my mum rang my doctor and took me straight down there. Apparently, I have some form of eczema :( It was red, blistered and really irritating, poor me! She gave me some liquid to rub into my scalp once a day for a week. Great. So I didn't actually need antibiotics! It's getting better but sometimes hard to sleep at night.

On Tuesday, Rich took me to see Skyfall and a meal at The Slug & Lettuce. I have to say, I wasn't that impressed with Bond. There were hardly any cool gadgets and the end was totally unrealistic, where was Bond's back up? Still, it was nice to go out and I very much enjoyed my burger and cookie dessert!

On Wednesday, I had training for fitting children's shoes at work. I learnt at lot about how to fit them, including size and width fittings, but I still don't feel very confident and I much prefer managing the main shop with the clothes and toys! Spent the evening at home with Rich again.

Thursssdaaayyyy. I left a comment on the Radio 1 Newsbeat Facebook page, then had a guy ring me and chat about car insurance and the fact it's going up for woman. We chatted and he's coming down on Monday to film and record my journey from home to work, talking all about how much it costs me, especially being a young driver! Brightened my day but definitely left me feeling a bit nervous...

Thank GOD for Friday. I spent all morning tidying up around my desk, before having plenty of deliveries to speed the day along! Rich usually plays football but was cancelled, so another night in at mine.

I love Saturdays, I stayed in my pjs until gone 12 but I spent all morning helping my mum find us a skiing holiday for Christmas. We booked the most amazing hotel in Morzine, France which is right on the mountains. I'll be vlogging whilst I'm there I think. I filmed some videos and got my nails done in the afternoon, then had a night in! It's far too cold to be going out at the moment.

Lazzyyy day. We popped into town because I tried to get an iPad mini but ended up buying my Grandma some Christmas presents and some pudsy ears! Ate mums home-made roast dinner before another chilled evening with Rich. Sneakily read lots of the bbloggers chat over on twitter.

Nothing much planned for next week, what about you guys?
Lots of lurrvee,
Brogan xx

NOTD Essie & Barry M Glitter

I've had Essie Ballet Slipper for absolutely ages, but it's so pale on its own that I struggle to wear it! As I'm having my gel nails put back on Saturday, I thought I would paint them and add my new Barry M glitter I haven't used yet in 349 Rose Quartz. I love this look and think it works great for day or night! I'll definitely be doing it more often.
